Quipu Group and TLC Launch New eCARD Integration for Library•Solution Customers

Quipu Group LLC, a library technology company, has partnered with The Library Corporation (TLC), a leading supplier of integrated library systems and services, to develop new patron registration and update APIs. TLC’s newly created LibrarySolution APIs support seamless integration with Quipu Group’s eCARD online registration services, providing verified online card registration for LibrarySolution customers. Justin Duewel-Zahniser, TLC’s Chief Technology Officer shared, “It was a pleasure working with Quipu Group on behalf of our mutual customer, Warren County Library. We partnered closely on the initial integration development and testing, and are excited for the benefit this will bring to Warren County, and to our other mutual customers going forward.”

With eCARD, library patrons have easy access to library card self-registration, using Quipu’s intuitive online registration from the library’s website with the option to use on their in-library computers. Quipu’s eCARD system verifies and standardizes address information entered by the patron in real time for addresses in the U.S. and Canada. Once verified, a patron record is created in the LibrarySolution integrated library system and available for immediate use.

“We have enjoyed our development partnership with The Library Corporation (TLC) this past year and over the past decade. We found Justin Duewel-Zahniser and his team to be extremely collaborative and innovative. We love partnering with TLC, a company that shares Quipu’s values for providing excellence in customer services and software,” shared Robert Anderson, Quipu Partner.

In the past, the Quipu Group and TLC partnered to develop full-featured APIs that allow for seamless integration between Quipu’s eCARD product and TLC’s CARLSolution. CARLSolution integrations include Contra Costa County Library (CA), Los Angeles Public Library (CA), Metropolitan Library System (OK), Monroe County Library System (NY), Solano County Library (CA), and Wellington City Libraries in New Zealand.

TLC Welcomes the Return of J Robert Jamerson Memorial Library to Library•Solution

The Library Corporation (TLC) welcomes the return of another former customer to LibrarySolution. J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library (JRJML) migrated away from the open-source Koha platform supported by Bywater Solutions and returned to TLC — their previous library management vendor of 22 years prior to 2014.

Located 200 miles from TLC’s Headquarters office in Inwood, West Virginia, the single-site library sits in the heart of the historically significant town of Appomattox, Virginia. The library serves approximately 16,000 residents across the county with over 32,000 titles.

In addition to the integrated library system and support services provided by TLC, JRJML has also implemented enriched OPAC services via Syndetics Unbound and will be utilizing TLC’s ITSMARC subscription service for bibliographic and authority records.

“After 7 years away, the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library is excited to be a returning TLC library partner,” stated Diana Harvey, Director for J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library. “As an organization we feel that TLC will provide a modern and easy to navigate Public Access Catalog to our community as well as excellent customer service to our staff.”

Annette Murphy, TLC’s CEO and founder, was pleased to welcome back the library and shared, “J. Robert Jamerson marks the fourth library this year to return to the TLC family, and we look forward to supporting them for many more years to come.”

JRJML’s enriched catalog can be viewed at pac.jrjml.org. For more information on LibrarySolution, please visit TLCdelivers.com or speak to a representative at sales@tlcdelivers.com.

New Haven Public Schools Delighted to Return to TLC Family

The Library Corporation (TLC) is pleased to announce the recent implementation of LibrarySolution for Schools for another returning customer: New Haven Public Schools (NHPS) in Connecticut. After a thoughtful deliberation process, NHPS chose a return to TLC, their previous library management vendor of 11 years prior to 2015. NHPS staff were pleased with the seamless data migration provided by TLC for transaction and materials records.

The school district includes 39 library sites across New Haven — the same Connecticut city home to Ivy League Yale University — serving over 187,000 title records and approximately 495,000 items to more than 20,000 students in the district. As with all migrations, TLC ensured that all records matched from NHPS’s former library management system in the transfer to LibrarySolution for Schools.

“I have been so pleased with every step of our process with TLC,” expressed Kim Rogers, Librarian Lead at New Haven Public Schools. She went on to compliment TLC’s consultative approach for NHPS to make a well thought out decision to move back to TLC and for the whole transition process to be smooth and easy to understand. “New Haven Public Schools is so pleased to have come back to the best solution for library management.”

Annette Murphy, CEO and founder, welcomed the district back to the TLC family and shared, “It’s more important than ever to our communities and our neighbors to have library services available to students. We’re looking forward to supporting New Haven Public Schools in providing excellence to their students and faculty.”

Grand Island Public Library Excited to Implement Library•Solution

The Library Corporation (TLC) is delighted to announce the recent implementation of LibrarySolution for Grand Island Public Library in Grand Island, Nebraska. The library has been looking forward to the completely web-based and hosted library system that LibrarySolution provides, as well as the eIntegration and dedicated Kids PAC solutions for their borrowers.

Located in Central Nebraska along the Platte River, Grand Island’s diverse community is populated by about 50,000 residents locally, and over 200,000 in the surrounding rural area. Grand Island Public Library continues to be the gateway to a lifetime of learning and literacy with a new integrated library system that meets the needs of the staff and the community.

Having migrated from an entirely open-source library system, the public library valued the level of support they have received from TLC throughout the implementation process. “We’re so excited to be moving off open-source and moving toward something that really works for our library patrons and staff,” shared Celine Swan, the Grand Island Public Library Director. “This has been more support than we’ve gotten in the past several years with our previous vendor.” TLC prides itself on the support-oriented mentality that goes above and beyond the current industry standard.

“TLC is happy to welcome Grand Island Public Library to the TLC family,” stated founder and CEO, Annette Murphy. “We appreciate the library’s initiative to foster a voice for their community while also optimizing team operations, and we look forward to supporting that mission for many years to come.”

Cybersecurity Hygiene for Your Library

Cyber hygiene is a reference to the practices and steps that users of computers and other devices take to maintain system health and improve online security. These practices are often part of a routine to ensure the safety of identity and other details that could be stolen or corrupted. Much like physical hygiene, cyber hygiene is regularly conducted to ward off natural deterioration and common threats. Think of your system as… well… you!

TLC strongly believes in taking a proactive approach to application security for our customers, so much so that we’ve built it into our routine processes; it’s not an afterthought. Part of our development cycle includes continuously assessing the security of our own application and remediating issues as they are found.

Our level of assurance is built into the development cycle for every major release and applicable patch releases, using industry-leading vulnerability analysis tools. We also deploy a DHS CISA check frequently for external testing. In addition to securing our own applications, our hosting and corporate infrastructure are protected by world-class endpoint security.

TLC has teamed up with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to create TLC•Cloud Services, a state-of-the-art cloud-based hosting platform that you and your library can trust to keep your information safe.

Because security is not a one-time event, TLC support is prepared when customers report concerns to replicate with our internal processes and respond as needed with application updates or guidance on local practices to mitigate risk. Please see our case study on the ransomware attack that threatened to cripple TLC customer, Butler County Federated Library System, and the risk-reduction mindset we used to diligently restore data and further protect the library.
