More libraries choose TLC

More libraries choose TLC

The TLC family of libraries continues to grow with the recent addition of customers in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Mercersburg Academy, Venango County Libraries, and Ohio County Public Library are all migrating to The Library Corporation’s Library•Solution integrated library system.

Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Penn., is a prestigious boarding school that attracts students from as far away as Russia and China. Originally founded as Marshall College in 1836, Mercersburg Academy has produced seven Rhodes scholars, three recipients of the Medal of Honor, a Nobel laureate, 54 Olympians, and two Academy Award winners. TLC’s automation system has been implemented in the academy’s 45,000-volume library, which supports the studies of nearly 450 students and the curricula of over 200 traditional and advanced courses.

In Venango County, Penn., three independent libraries are joining forces to implement TLC’s  LibrarySolution and a suite of ILS enhancement products including the LS2 PAC and LS2 Kids catalogs. Oil CityFranklin, and Cooperstown public libraries serve a total populace of more than 42,000 residents with a combined collection of approximately 140,000 titles. The total annual circulation of the three libraries exceeds 285,000.

Ohio County Public Library in Wheeling, W.Va., also selected the LibrarySolution ILS, but took the extra step of adding TLC’s RDAExpress catalog conversion service. RDAExpress provides a fast, efficient solution for upgrading MARC records to the new, more robust RDA standard. Records are converted at a pace selected by the customer, be it one title at a time or an entire collection. In the case of Ohio County Public Library, more than 155,000 of its 191,000 titles were upgraded from MARC to RDA via RDAExpress.

The Library Corporation has provided automation and cataloging solutions to libraries worldwide since 1974. TLC is headquartered in Inwood, W.Va., and has additional offices in Denver, Singapore, and Ontario, Canada, serving more than 4,500 libraries around the globe.
