Hawaii schools say ‘aloha’ to TLC

Following a competitive bid process, the Hawaii State Department of Education selected The Library Corporation to provide library automation services for its network of 289 public and charter schools.

Established in 1840 by King Kamehameha III, Hawaii’s public school system is the oldest in the United States west of the Mississippi. It is the only statewide public school system in the U.S. and is tasked with educating more than 180,000 K-12 students spread across Hawaii’s eight main islands.

The contract to utilize TLC’s LibrarySolution for Schools ILS was signed by the Hawaii State Department of Education in January. The school system’s 220 library locations decided to migrate away from a Follett Destiny ILS after expressing a preference for TLC’s automation software, particularly the company’s customizable and age-appropriate online catalogs for both emerging and proficient readers. The Hawaii State Department of Education joins a prestigious and growing family of LibrarySolution for Schools customers including Chicago Public Schools, Dallas ISD, Omaha Public Schools, Fayerweather Street School, Simcoe County District School Board, and more.

The Library Corporation, a GSA-certified company, has operated continuously and under the same ownership since its creation in 1974. The company’s automation and cataloging solutions are utilized by more than 4,500 school, public, academic, and special libraries worldwide. TLC is based in Inwood, W.Va., and has additional offices in Denver, Singapore, and Ontario, Canada. To learn more, e-mail info@TLCdelivers.com or call 1.800.325.7759.
