Dallas ISD renews library partnership with TLC
Following an intense bidding process, Dallas Independent School District has selected The Library Corporation for a third consecutive time, continuing a relationship that has blossomed since 2003. Additionally, Dallas ISD is adding SocialFlow to its TLC service agreement, making it the first public school district in the world to implement the popular social media management system.
With 250 schools and a total enrollment of nearly 160,000 students, Dallas ISD (DallasISD.org) is the second largest school system in Texas and the 12th largest in the nation. Its libraries provide access to 2.6 million books, eBooks, digital resources, and other items, and handle an average annual circulation of more than 2.8 million titles. Dallas ISD relies on TLC’s Library•Solution for Schools integrated library system and its accompanying suite of Web-based LS2 modules – PAC, Kids, Mobile, Staff, and Reports – to assist with the management of its award-winning library media services.
New to the school district is SocialFlow, a third-party social media publishing service provided by TLC that is the leading platform for the distribution and optimization of content to social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and LinkedIn. The New York-based SocialFlow service launched in June 2010 and is utilized by NBC, NPR, BBC News, The New York Times, Pepsi, Forbes, New York Public Library, and many more high-profile clients. Dallas ISD is the first public school district to use SocialFlow.
Founded in 1974, TLC provides automation and cataloging solutions to more than 4,500 school, public, and academic libraries worldwide. The company is headquartered in Inwood, W.Va., and has additional offices in Denver, London, Singapore, and Ontario, Canada.
